This Privacy Policy describes how Lu Aqua ("we", "the app") handles your data. Lu Aqua is published by Girgis Bayoumi (gogy.bairy@gmail.com). By installing and using Lu Aqua you agree to this policy.
The following is saved inside the app's private storage (Android's local SQLite database + SharedPreferences). It never leaves your device unless you choose to share it manually.
| Category | Examples |
|---|---|
| Profile | Display name, weight, activity level, wake/sleep times, profile photo (optional) |
| Hydration log | Each drink you log: type, amount, timestamp |
| Reminders | Times and labels of the water reminders you set |
| Preferences | Theme, language, dark mode, daily-goal mode, Ramadan mode |
| Mood entries | Optional emoji-based mood you tap for the day |
| Caching | Last-known outdoor temperature for the Smart Goal feature |
You can erase all of this at any time via Settings β Reset All Data, or by uninstalling the app.
The app does not request access to your contacts, camera, microphone, GPS location, SMS, or storage outside its own sandbox.
For the Smart Goal feature Lu Aqua queries the public service ipwho.is to derive an approximate latitude/longitude from your device's IP address,
and uses api.open-meteo.com to fetch the current outdoor temperature. The result is cached for six hours locally.
We do not store or transmit your IP address, coordinates, or city to any server we control.
GPS is not used and we never request location permission.
Lu Aqua optionally integrates with Android Health Connect β the system data hub that other health apps (Fitbit, Samsung Health, Google Fit successor, etc.) read and write from. This integration is off by default and only activates when you enable it in Settings β Health Connect sync.
When enabled, Lu Aqua:
Health Connect data is stored locally on your device by the Health Connect system app. We do not read, copy, or transmit Health Connect data to any server. You can revoke Lu Aqua's access at any time from the Health Connect app or by turning off the toggle in Lu Aqua Settings.
On Android 10β13 devices without Health Connect, the same toggle uses the legacy Activity Recognition permission to read steps from the device's pedometer. Same scope, same local-only behaviour.
Lu Aqua generates personalised hydration tips from your own logged data using a set of on-device rules. This is not a cloud AI service β no data is sent off your device for analysis. The "Smart Coach" card on the dashboard reads from your local SQLite store and produces tips like "You're behind today's goal" or "You consistently miss morning hydration". If you disable the dashboard card it stays hidden, and no analysis runs.
Lu Aqua publishes today's hydration totals over the Android Wearable Data Layer so that a future Wear OS watch app can mirror them on your wrist. No companion watch app ships with this release; the phone-side publisher runs silently in the background. If you don't have a paired Wear OS watch with a Lu Aqua app installed, nothing happens. No data leaves your phoneβwatch pairing.
Google AdMob (ads): Lu Aqua shows banner and rewarded ads through Google AdMob. AdMob may collect device identifiers and ad-interaction data per Google's policies. Subscribers on Lite tier and above do not see banner ads; Standard tier and above remove interstitials as well. See Google's ads privacy policy.
Google Play Billing (subscriptions): Payment is processed by Google Play. Lu Aqua receives only an entitlement signal (which tier you bought and when it expires). Card details and personal payment data are handled by Google. See Google's privacy policy.
Lu Aqua is intended for general audiences (13+). The app does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a minor has shared personal information through Lu Aqua, email gogy.bairy@gmail.com and we will help. Note: Lu Aqua stores no data on our servers β anything you want removed must be cleared from the device.
For any privacy question or request, email gogy.bairy@gmail.com.
We may update this policy when Lu Aqua's features change. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent change. Continued use of the app after a change indicates acceptance of the updated policy.
